poetry

Funeral poems do not need to be sad or tearful, as long as they reflect the character of the person you have lost. Poetry, by its very nature, makes demands on a writer who attempts to analyze it that other forms of literature do not.

Keep your speech, toasts and poems at weddings funny, short and sweet and remember to have fun. Put it in an email, subject a romantic I love you poem. You are not expected to become a poet overnight.

Pick out a few personal things about that special person and write cute little lines about it. If someone might buy a gift for a friend today, Shakespeare would have written that person a sonnet. Perhaps you can extract some meaning from the lines that hit home, and perhaps the poem is crap to start out with, so go find a poet you like.

Find funny poems about marriage and love and include those for a laugh or two. If you are giving it to read, put in a love card.
